More than being just another new specialized discipline, the philosophy of psychopathology was created to give space to a need no longer be postponed for the sciences that deal with mental phenomena: to talk to each other the various points of view on these issues and put them in contact with those areas of neighboring disciplines that are essential for their growth.
The starting point is outlined by Karl Jaspers in his General Psychopathology: its nature requires the psychopathology of a rigorous philosophical foundation that allows both:
